Kidde PI2000 Dual Sensor Smoke Alarm January 7, 2009 My home already had three hardwired smoke alarms installed but they had to be over 20 years old. I wanted to replace them with a current smoke alarm and became interested in the dual sensor Kidde PI2000. I found them the cheapest at that time on Amazon and purchased three. They were easy to install as my home was already set-up for A/C hardwire. I had an issue with one unit as it was basically wired as a standalone unit from the other two units. I called Kidde and they told me what to do and the alarm along with the other two works perfectly. Less then 20 minutes to install the three alarms for my home.
I would have like to have found an A/C smoke alarm that had additional features like a light that would turn on when the alarm went off along with a message voice but it seems the alarm companies only offer specific features on various models. Wouldn't it make sense to have the option to have all the features in one alarm? I guess not.
Anyway, no issues with installation and although I have not had any smoke or a fire in my home, they seem to be functioning fine.
Dual Sensor Smoke Alarms December 22, 2008 The Kidde PI2000 Hardwire Dual Sensor Alarms (photoelectric and ionization) were ordered as replacements for my existing single sensor (ionization) smoke/fire alarms. The new smoke/fire alarms appear to be very high quality and were relatively easy to install. (15-20 minutes per alarm) While I found limited reviews for Dual Sensor Hardwired Alarms. I ordered these based on Kidde reputation, and primarily because of a local news story I saw that indicated that ionization single sensor smoke/fire alarms are not set off by smoltering smokey fires, but by flash fires/ heat of flames. There was a local fatality associated with a smokey fire, and the family's smoke/fire alarms did not have the photoelectric sensors. Hearing that story and understanding the differences in the types of detection, as well as realizing I had ionization single sensor alarms in my home, was all it took for me to order the Kidde PI2000 Dual Sensor Alarms. Let's hope they are never used!!
Good unit Great Price December 1, 2008 Replaced basic alarm with this Dual mode unit. It took about 5 min to install. Great price.
Good product, easy to install November 29, 2008 I choose this unit because it was the only model that had both types of sensors and was made for hard wire applications. It installed easily without any problems. What else can I say except that I hope I never have a fire, but if I do, I hope this unit will perform as expected!
Good product November 16, 2008 Product arrived in a timely manner and was as described. They were easily installed by electrician and appear to be working.
