This machine is easy to use, does the job quickly, and is easy to clean after use. We bought it to clean the carpet in our house after being soiled by two large dogs. The first use we could see no more "marks" on the carpet left by the dogs. In fact after three years of use the carpet looked new again. We didn't even pre-treat the carpet. The weight is much lighter than the ones you can rent and available in a moments notice.

I have had my carpet cleaner for over a year and was so pleased with how well it works, that I bought one for my mother-in-law who had just gotten a new puppy. It does a very good job cleaning the carpets and is extremely easy to operate. I highly recommend it to anyone for maintaining their carpets.
Excellent! January 8, 2009
I have 2 dogs and 3 kids. I really need my own carpet machine. I had the old Hoover model for 13 years before it started to wear out. That's a good record! I decided to get this newer model. The new attachments are a little harder to use, but well worth the effort! This thing cleans like a dream!!
Great cleaner for the price January 8, 2009
We just got this machine last week and could not be more pleased. I was able to clean 2 large rooms in less than an hour and a half and they were dry within 4 hours. It is very easy to assemble and to move around (I am 7 months pregnant) and even to switch from the stair/upholstery attachment to the regular cleaner. I'm not convinced that the clean surge feature actually does anything special, but between using that and pre-treating the worst spots, our floors look great!
My only complaints:
* The cleaner that comes with the machine smells VERY strong and "chemically". I used it at half strength and still could smell it for hours. I would recommend getting a "free" cleaner to use, especially if you have kids or allergies/asthma.
* The worst spots on your floor will need to be pre-treated in order to get them out. I just sprayed Resolve before I started a room and then they came right up when I went over them with the Hoover.
* The power cord is a little short. I had to keep switching between outlets to get it to reach.
Overall, we are VERY pleased with how well this worked for the price of it. Don't waste your money on a more expensive machine - I highly recommend this one!
Saved my daughter's Christmas January 8, 2009
We have cats, two of them, both long-haired. My daughter, who came for Christmas is very allergic to cats. This has been a on-going problem, making Christmases with us a mixed blessing. She stays in a hotel, but still wants to spend the days with us.
So, just before Christmas, I bought this cleaner and did every carpet, rug, and upholstered chair and sofa in the house. I followed the instructions carefully and had no leaks, and used a tea kettle of boiling water in every gallon to improve the hotness of the water as recommended in a review here. It worked wonderfully well. Everything came beautifully clean (I could tell because I rinsed everything and the rinse water came out clean). I'm extremely pleased with this purchase. Things were much, much better for my daughter too. However, all the furniture moving practically crippled me. Small price to pay though.
