Kodak wireless W820 frame problematic on macs January 8, 2009 I spent the entire morning trying to get this frame to make a direct wireless connection with my MacBook Pro, but the only way to connect seems to be via a webpage that only allows basic configuration of the frame. How can a major corporation produce a product like this and say it is Mac compatible and get away with it? Two hours with Kodak's online tech support yielded no solution either. My questions have been 'escalated', so we'll see if they get back to me. Really frustrating and annoying, and without a fix Kodak has lost a customer.
UNRELIABLE SOFTWARE TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH January 8, 2009 I AM 68 YEARS OLD BUT I KNOW HOW TO SET UP AND MAINTAIN MY LOCAL WIRELESS NETWORK WITH 3 COMPUTERS. THE KODAK SOFTWARE IS SLOW AND UNRELIABLE. IT LOCKS YOU OUT FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. IF YOU HAVE 13,000 PHOTOS ON ONE HARD DISC ALONE IT WILL TAKE YOU FOREVER TO CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO SHOW. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A RANDOM WAY TO SHOW PHOTOS ON ANY OR ALL OF YOUR HARD DISCS LIKE A SCREEN SAVER WILL DO ON YOUR COMPUTER. LARGE NUMBER OF PHOTOS SIMPLY CONFUSES THE SOFTWARE. MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER ON YOUR NETWORK WILL CAUSE CONFUSION TO THE SOFTWARE. THE NETWORK WILL REQUIRE YOU TO CHOOSE ONE MACHINE TO READ. IT MAY SIMPLY BE A LACK OF MEMORY ON THE KODAK FRAME THAT WASTES TIME. THE PRIMARY GOAL OF KODAK IS TO SELL YOU THINGS ON THEIR WEB SITE.
IF YOU WANT TO PAY THEM FOR SENDING YOUR DATA ELSEWHERE OR COPY PHOTOS SENT TO YOU BY OTHERS,YOU CAN WASTE ALOT OF TIME. LIFE IS SHORT . PUTTING A MEMORY STICK INTO THE FRAME TO COPY TO THE INTERNAL MEMORY IS SLOW AND TEDIOUS.HAVING A SMALL FAST COMPUTER NEAR THE FRAME TO CONNECT WITH A USB CORD IS MORE REALISTIC DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR LIBRARY. MAYBE THE NEXT ITERATION WILL MAKE THINGS EASIER. I HAVE ANOTHER FRAME THAT TRIES TO DO LESS AND DOES IT WELL.
Nice Christmas Gift January 7, 2009 I bought this frame as a Christmas present for my sister. She is very happy with it. It was easy to set up and the picture quality is excellent. It is a nice size for display on her living room end table.
Kodak Digital Frame, Not for Prints January 7, 2009 I found the Kodak Digital Picture Frame to be as easy to use as advertised.
My first upload/display were digital pictures taken at Christmas. The upload process to the CF card was seemless. The Kodak digital frame was easy to program using its "touch-program" system.
I was so inspired that I decided to convert print photos of my children to digital to display on the Kodak picture frame.
The process of scanning and uploading the photos to my computer was a labor intensive process. 176 photosd later, I had a great collection gathered on my computer using the Picasa 6 photo manager program. The results were no less than spectacular.
Inspired, I downloaded the 176 photos to a SD card for the Kodak Digital Frame. Sorry to say, the pitures displayed on the digital frame are slightly out of focus. I double-checked all the setting of the digital picture frame, but have not be able to overcome the issue.
At this point I assume that digital picture frames, like the Kodak, require a 1st generation digital source to perform at optimum display on the Kodak EasyShare P720 Digital Picture Frame with Home Decor Kit.
Kodak EasyShare M1020 Digital Picture Frame January 7, 2009 This product was better than I expected. It is a wonderful way to display your photos for all to see. I especially like the touch screen, which enable easy maneuvering of functionality. Highly recommend this product.
